On 12 June 2009 the tenth presidential election in Iran took place. Nearly every Iranian knows that the election was unfair, rigged and false. Within a few hours of closing the poles, the leader of the Islamic Republic in Iran declared his favourite candidate as the outright winner and ordered the formation of the new government.

Iranian people, young and old, rich and poor, men and women decided that enough is enough. They took to the streets and peacefully demanded their democratic and sovereign rights for self governing and free choice.

They were savagely confronted by the regime apparatus and were beaten, shot at, arrested and tortured. Many thousands were arrested and tortured in regime prisons, their bodies were returned to their families after a long time and in small numbers to prevent general anger amongst population, yet the proofs were there for all to see and documented by thousands

Our world is now small enough that the events in one part of the planet will affect us all across the globe. A democratic and peaceful Iran will create a calm and moderate atmosphere in one of the most troublesome and violent regions in the world.

Events of September 11th and July 7th must never happen again and we should see peace and coexistence in Middle East, Palestine and Iraq at last.

By supporting the resurrection of Iranian people and their quest for freedom and democracy, you will be helping to return some sanity and moderation into the world once again. Their plight has direct effects into our lives here in the West and by supporting their cry for basic human rights and freedom, we will be helping to create a more peaceful and friendlier world for our children everywhere.

Please write to your local politician, MP and MEP, tell them that you are concerned about what is happening in Iran and demand that they should voice their support for ordinary men and women inside Iran, for it is the right of every human being to have a decent and free life.

Remember that our silence is not only immoral, but will encourage similar dictators to spread their circle of power and who knows, it might be our turn someday that will fall within their grasp and then there will be no one left to help us.

As the Iranian poet (Saadi) wrote 800 years ago.

Human beings are members of a whole,

In creation of one essence and soul.

If one member is afflicted with pain,

Other members uneasy will remain.

If you have no sympathy for human pain,

The name of human you cannot retain.
